The TiO{sub}2 nanotubes with a highly ordered structure on titanium were grown by a self-organized electrochemical anodization with viscous organic electrolytes containing small additions of fluorides as the supporting electrolyte. The structure and composition of the as-anodized nanotubes were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy. The formation mechanism of the nanotubes was discussed.
