International Standards and why they are so important for the security professional

Legislation and regulation is a big issue, and becoming bigger all over the world. In the US the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) has changed the professional lives of the directors of all listed companies. In the UK the Turnbull Report gives directors of public companies clear responsibilities and duties. Banks and financial sector organisations are subject to the requirements of the Bank of International Settlement (BIS) and Financial Services Agency (FSA). The OECD has issued guidelines to all member countries to evolve a "corporate governance regime".
