Noise in cities traditionally brings negative attention to the sound we are currently exposed. Nowadays, soundscape studies support a more contrasted approach when sometimes focusing on the positive side of the sounds, in quiet areas for instance. Indeed, as it is now admitted, hedonic perception of sound not only depends on the level but also on the information carried by the identity of the sound sources. However, few studies have evaluated the relative importance of such information. The aim of this work is to evaluate the hedonic side of the soundscape for a group of subjects during a walk in different areas such as green area and market in the City of Paris (i.e. in typical urban conditions of a western and historical capital) in regard to the sound sources people are exposed to. Questionnaires with features related to subjective aspects (pleasantness/unpleasantness, loudness and sound sources characteristics) are collected during the walk. Relations between perceptive features are discussed.
