A simple relaxation-like behaviour-oriented model is used to analyse coastal evolution as a cumulative process responding to sea-level isostatic fluctuations occurring in Europe after the Flandrian transgression. The input forcing is represented by a curve of sea level position that includes all the observed periodicities in the oscillating pattern, as proposed by Fairbridge (1962) and observed by Santiago (2006) from historical and socioecononomic data. Different type of coasts, represented by their values of relaxation times, are analyzed. Results show the importance to account for sea-level variations for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management.
