From the beginning of marketed Li-ion battery, LiNiO_2 was applied for a cathode material because of its high capacity namely 190mAh/g and relatively low electrical resistance in battery. However, the thermal stability of this crystal is poor in comparing with other cathode materials. Recently, DSC data were measured by TIAX with various SOC, and ARC data was shown by Sandia National Lab. comparing with other cathode materials, LCO, LNCM using a18650 sized battery. As for electrical resistance, after the aging NiO was detected on the surface of LNCA by TOYOTA. It will be needed to improve these characteristics for application of hi-capacity and hi-drain type Li-ion battery.
