Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of (Protected) Psymberic acid

Psymberin (1) (Psammocinia, symbiont, pederin) is a cytotoxine which was isolated in 2004 out of the marine sponges Psammocinia sp. and Ircinia ramose. Subsequent analysis proved that psymberin (1) shows remarkable cytostatic activity against multiple human cancer cell lines with a LC_(50)in nano molar concentrations.The considerable high biological activity, the lack of natural availability and the challenging structure made psymberin (1) an attractive target for total synthesis.
