摘要

Substituted benzimidazoles and their fused cyclic derivatives as well as heteroaromatic amidines have attracted considerable attention from medicinal and synthetic organic chemists because of the wide range of biological activities displayed by this class of compounds. Interaction of aromatic compounds with double stranded (ds) polynucleotides is of paramount significance for many biologically and medicinally important interactions. Our previous results pointed toward intriguing interactions of benzimidazole, thiophene and furane derivatives with ds-DNA.
