Consideration on Geo-distribution and Control of Snail in Shanghai

In 1985, the transmission of schistosomiasis japonicum was interrupted in Shanghai after more than 30 years hard efforts in the control and prevention of schistosomiasis, such as the leaded by leadership, specially instructed by public health persons, carried out by the mass.The result of 21 years' surveillance showed title situation of elimination of schistosomiasis was maintained, but some potential risk still existed: imported patients were often found in all over the city; the snail {Oncomelania hupensis), which is the only middle host of schistosomiasis, were found every year in some places; residents could get acute infection once they went to endemic and touched the infected water.
