One advantage of full-mold casting is that near net shape manufacturing can be achieved more easily than with general sand mold casting that uses a wooden mold because the shape of the cast product does not need a draft. Near net shape manufacturing requires no post-processing, which means fewer man-hours and therefore reduced costs and shorter delivery times. However, in the case of molding for large-sized castings by full-mold casting, a foam residue that is a specific defect of this casting method becomes a serious problem. This defect arises when an undissolved foam pattern enters the product, where it becomes a serious defect that severely compromises the quality of the product.
