At this time, both aspects of the method still require optimization for the extraction and analysis of halogenated acetic acids. However the method itself shows that it is possible to simultaneously and rapidly detect multiple compounds in one sample run, which with further development has the potential to be applied to other classes of compounds with complete validation and much improved detection limits. Which will be improved through the use of trap analysis along with a more reliable reference mixture.
