摘要

Our results have shown that a proteomic pattern to distinguish colonic from lung carcinoma was established with high accuracy by applying MALDI IMS on FFPE tissues. Classification models were successfully applied to determine the primary colon carcinoma in metastasis. Identification of the peptides constituting the marker panel of the classifier confirmed biological correlation with the tumor phenotypes. Our study represents an initial but important attempt to describe an unbiased molecular diagnostic tool capable of tumor classification in addition to other molecular techniques.
