Top down proteomic profiling of a hypervirulent clinical isolate of Acinetobacter baumannii

Compared with less virulent isolates AYE and ATCC17978, hypervirulent LAC-4 showed substantially increased expression of 3 proteins in vitro. It was also interesting and surprising to note that more proteins were up-regulated in AYE, despite its relatively lower virulence in mice. Further studies using mutagenesis approaches will be needed to determine the significance of our findings.
