A robust, rapid, selective, accurate and reproducible method for quantification of total colistin (CMS A and CMS B) in human plasma was validated suitable for determination of pharmacokinetics in regulated studies. Properly incubation of samples during hydrolyzing total colistin with hydrochloric acid is critical for accurate quantitation of COL A and COL B. Severe adsorptive lose of total colistin and COL A&B in glassware and certain plastic tips and tubes is overcome.
