Iron Modified Peptides as Biomarkers of Endometrial Cancer Gynecologic Malignancies

This novel proteomic-based screening test may enhance specificity of detection and may be used to determine the presence, absence, progression, or stage of EmCa and or other gynocologic malignancies. The method uses sampling from mucus of the cervix and vagina which is a localized and site-specific source obtained via methods similar to a routine PAP smear. A comparison of differences in proteins of EmCa patients and of normal healthy controls, a statistically significant group of six albumin proteins with iron adduct modifications have been identified.
