Detection and validation of a retrotransposon-like protein, PEG11, over-expressed in Callipyge sheep skeletal muscle

摘要

The mass spectrometric approach used in this study allowed confirmation of the presence of the retrotransposon-like protein PEG11, a potential causal agent for the Callipyge phenotype. Protein association studies will reveal interesting functional information which may provide insights into the role of this protein in relation to muscle hypertrophy in the Callipyge model system.
