Determination of HVA and 5-HIAA in cerebrospinal fluid using solid phase extraction and LC-MS/MS.

摘要

A simple and rapid quantification by LC-MS/MS of HVA and 5-HIAA in CSF was developed. Acceptable statistical results were obtained. Concentration values from patients fell in the reference ranges except for one patient with Barth Syndrome. To our knowledge, abnormal values for HVA in CSF were never associated with this etiology. The use of HVA as a potential biomarker for that disorder should be further investigated. Improvement in HVA analysis can be achieved by using stable isotope dilution method.
