Poly(oxyethylene-co-oxypropylene) fatty ethers (co-FAE) and poly(oxyethylene) fatty esters (FAES) are widely used in industrial applications. The main reason is their structural diversity deriving from factors such as the type of end-groups, the ratio of ethylene oxide (EO) to propylene oxide (PO) units and their position in the backbone. When they are synthesized from natural materials such as vegetable oils and fats, the end products are usually complex mixtures with a lot of isomers.
