NO and O_(2) were used as probes of distonic structure for a suite of primary, secondary and tertiary radical anions. In each case they were found to identify whether a given radical anion was distonic or alpha-carboxylate in nature. In the case of distonic molecules, small abundances of alpha-carboxylate markers were found, and could thus be used to determine the contribution of each isomer.
