This paper will describe some of the benefits of Math Model Control on an Annealing and Pickling Line (APL) furnace. This model was based on positive and negative experiences from other APL furnace operations. Actual operating trends will be used to show the advantages of Math Model control versus conventional operator control. Based on these results, recommendations will be made for future improvements.
