Lessons Learned and Efficiencies Developed in Conducting Dust Hazard Analyses and LOPAs

This paper presents lessons learned from performing dust process hazard analyses (PHAs) and layer of protection analyses (LOPAs) on solids handling, processing, and dust collection systems. Topics discussed include (1) collection of relevant process safety information, (2) development of consequence estimation tools, (3) conducting the PHA/LOPA team meetings, (4) example results, and (5) conclusions based on the experience of the PHA/LOPA team members.
