In trauma surgery, orthopaedics or dental-oral surgery, bone defects often need to be repaired by filling with bone substitute materials. In particular, after the treatment of bone cysts, comminuted fractures, joint implant revision, and bone tumors, the loss of bone material has to be compensated. Additionally it may be required to augment and stabilise defective bone in patients suffering from osteoporosis. Osteoporotic bone damage of the vertebral bodies can be especially painful for the patient and minimal invasive stabilization of the vertebral bodies by filling with an injectable bone substitute material is a successful treatment option.
