At present it is obvious that histological study of the mucus of the large intestine is a priority for estimation of the many specific particularities of development variations of ulcerative colitis (UC). The purposes of histological analysis are: determination of activities of the disease, estimation main morphological change, realization of the differential diagnosis, well-timed correct treatment, estimation of efficiency of treatment and time of the onset of histological remissions. So histological estimation of the mucus of the colon is particularly necessary at the time of primary determination of the diagnosis of UC, and particularly important in an acute attack of the disease. We propose that correct interpretation of histological data under primary diagnostics of UC can greatly influence the choice of drugs (5-ASA, systemic or topical glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants), their doses and regimes of treatment.
