Wound healing is the process of tissue repair, which involves a number of cellular and molecular events. This process requires cell migration, proliferation, angiogenesis, matrix deposition and degradation (1), and growth factors (polypeptides) that control the growth, differentiation, and metabolism of cells (2). Our increased understanding of molecular biology and the escalation in technological capabilities has resulted in a decreasing gap between basic research and clinical application.
