GROWING THE INTERNATIONAL FIRM AND GLOBAL EXPANSION

This paper analyzes two cement companies, Cemex from Mexico and Lafarge from France, and compares and discusses their internationalization patterns, growth, and global expansion. The work analyzes both companies' entry-mode strategies in an industry which is considered to be a part of an old economy industry. In the last five years, the cement and construction industry has witnessed a multitude of mergers and high-profile acquisitions at the global level. The significance of this paper lies in its timeliness and relevance to the ongoing debate of internationalization and global expansion in the cement industry.
