Studies on IT investment decisions have focused mostly on performance, which results in overlapping or discrete models. However, decision makers in firms do not just seek maximum benefits, but rather pursue the long-term survival of the firms. This study identifies organization-level contingencies in which reactive and proactive management on IT investments make sense.
