A SYSTEMS DYNAMIC MODEL OF ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS IN THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT COMPUTER MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY 1948 TO 2001

This paper presents a systems dynamic model of organizational effectiveness in the original equipment computer manufacturing industry 1976 to 2001. The system dynamics simulation model was constructed from statistically significant population model parameters modeled by covariate effectiveness analysis, refined to account for nonlinearities and discontinuities not captured in the covariate effectiveness model, and validated for structural fit of simulated trajectories to observed historical trajectories of sales market share niche data. Sensitivity analyses provided information on potential internal actions an engineering manger may take through controllable covariates to maintain or increase a given organization's effectiveness niche width.
