Abstract: Background and objective:Mechanism of rigidity in Parkinson disease is widely accepted to be the hyper excitability of spinal a-motor neurons leading to oscillation of long loop stretch reflex. However mechanism underlying Parkinsonian tremor is still under debate. There are two major explanations central theoryand peripheral theory.This work is aimed at approaching this controversy by studying F wave duration as an index of spinal a-motor neuron excitability to evaluate the peripheral theory. Methods:Eight Parkinsonian patients who had surgically implanted deep brain stimulation (DBS) electrodes in their Vim (VLp) thalamic nucleus were recruited.
