摘要

Nowadays, many shipyards utilize ship product model for various purposes such as collection of several design information, the study of block division and construction simulation. In order to construct product model at initial design stage, our company had developed 3D CAD system "VISION" as reported on ICCAS'97. Generally, it takes long time to build the product model. In this paper, it is reported that we tried to seek better solutions to reduce the modeling period by using of VISION, and consequently we found the function of longitudinal stiffeners arrangement on the shell plate at fore and aft parts increases the validity of VISION as design tool. We focused the design procedure of longitudinal stiffeners arrangement by using of VISION, and found the designer repeatedly referred to the related drawings such as a cross section plan. Cross section plan can be easily created by VISION because VISION can manage 3D information of hull form and structural members. The function of longitudinal stiffeners arrangement design was newly developed so that the designer can get cross section plan easily. Furthermore, product model which contains the longitudinal stiffeners arrangement will be built automatically by using of VISION. The advantages of VISION as a design tool are the reduction of a design period and modeling work.
