Quadrotors and other multi-rotor autonomous micro aerial vehicles have been studied extensively in recent years. The control literature is mostly focused on model based approaches using either linear control or nonlinear control derived from geometric approaches. There has been some research on learning based control, but the model based approaches are more mature and can provide provable guarantees on stability.
