THE CURRENT STATUS AND INFLUENCE FACTORS OF INDOOR AIR POLLUTION IN URBAN AREA IN BEIJNG

The purpose of this study is to investigate current status and influence factors of indoor air pollution in Beijing.About 463 persons were chosen randomly to complete questionnaires. The levels of formaldehyde and NOx were monitored in bedrooms and kitchens of 91 households. Average daily concentration of formaldehyde in bedrooms was about 0.049 mg/m3 (over standard rate 13%). Formaldehyde pollution in furnished rooms (0.058 mg/m3) was heavier than that in unfurnished rooms (0.034 mg/m3) with statistically significant difference (P<0.001). Average concentrations of NOx in bedrooms and kitchens were 0.053 mg/m3 and 0.090 mg/m3 (over standard rates 9% and 48% respectively) with statistically significant difference (p<0.001). We used multiple regression model to discover that house decoration was the most important factor on formaldehyde; natural gas was the primary source of NOx in kitchens and it was also an important source of formaldehyde in bedrooms; smoking was a main source of NOx in bedrooms.
