The pressure effect on the reaction of methanol and carbon dioxide to afford dimethyl carbonate in the presence of n-Bu_2Sn(OCH_3)_2 was studied in the temperature range 373-423 K. Correlations between reaction kinetics and calculated P-T phase diagrams of the binary CO_2-methanol mixture of different compositions show that supercritical monophasic conditions lead to the highest yield and rate.
