摘要

This study involves multi-day sampling to identify and quantify oxygenated volatile organic compounds (OVOCs) and terpenes in 30 classrooms across seven Texas high schools. The concentrations and potential sources of OVOCs and terpenes are identified. Preliminary analyses suggest that variations in these compounds and their concentrations between schools are greater than within schools. Major sources appear to be associated with cleaning practices, classroom materials, and occupants. "No scent" policies appear effective at reducing the concentration of terpenes, which are potential precursors to chemistry-derived OVOCs.
