1. Introduction: PET and PET/CT are the fastest growing imaging modalities worldwide. With the ability of PET machines to capture direct images of cellular and molecular growth condition changes, the recent increase in research and treatment using PET systems quickly progressed in the United States, Europe and Japan. PET technology has already become an important diagnostic tool for staging disease, evaluating the treatment effects and the long-term follow-up of cancer patients in developed nations. In summary, PET/CT studies can affect the patient management in about 25-30% of the oncological patients.
