摘要

Porous silica microspheres in the 1-2 range with low size deviation were synthesizedby ammonia catalysed hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethylorthosilicate usingmethanol as co-solvent and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as surfactant. Themesopore diameter was subsequently expanded from <20 A to –200 A by a postsynthesishydrothermal treatment in a water-amine emulsion system followed by controlleddissolution in aqueous sodium hydroxide. XRD, TEM, and N2 sorption measurementswere used to characterize pore properties. ESZ technique in conjunction with SEM wasused to establish morphology and measure particle size and size distribution. Particleaggregation and scale up reproducibility are discussed. Preliminary chromatographicresults are presented which demonstrate the applicability of these particles in UltraPerformance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC).
