Effects of the Kingston Ash Release on Fish and Benthic Invertebrate Assemblages(PPT)

1. Fish community and sport fish population (i.e., largemouth bass) results indicate abundances, species richness, and condition of fish are similar to those observed prior to the spill. 2. No historical benthic macroinvertebrate data were available for the affected environment. 3. Benthic community differences among sites clearly exist. 4. Differences appear to be primarily related to variations in channel morphology and the complexity of converging river systems with different hydrological, physical and chemical characteristics.
