A comparison of the emissions predicted by two air emission models, WATER9 and TOXCHEM+ V3.0, from an industrial wastewater pre-treatment plant was conducted. The unit operations within each model were defined and then calibrated using historical weather and VOC concentration data from the OC-ALC at Tinker Air Force Base Industrial Waste Treatment Plant (IWTP). The IWTP uses clarifiers, blending tanks, storage tanks, oil-water separators, aerated equalization basins, and metals flocculation to meet the Oklahoma City pretreatment discharge standards. The models were further refined using field data collected during two sampling events. The overall predicted emissions did not differ greatly between the two models but the predicted emissions were much higher than the measured emissions. Limitations of the models and sampling methods were identified.
