ON-LINE ENGINEERING DRAWING DOCUMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM

In today's world of Process Safety Management(PSM)regulations and fast paced projects,it is critical for natural gas companies to be able to maintain,create,and easily access any number of documents from drawings,such as P&IDs,to procedures,such as Start Up Procedures.VECO has recently designed and implemented the Engineering Drawing & Document Information(EDDI)system.T he EDDI system is comprised of two basic interfaces.The Documentum desktop product provides the core functionality for document control gatekeepers.A user-friendly web-browser interface provides the primary access to a broad user base.CAD viewing and printing functions are enabled by use of external viewer software.The EDDI-Lite web interface provides real-time access to all current versions of controlled documents(drawings,procedures,mechanical catalogues,etc.)as well as access to work-in-progress project and as-built drawings,and other critical data.Utilizing the versatility of the EDDI-Lite web interface,specific business or facility units can establish "document center" web-site views as fit-forpurpose access points for critical information.This enables local read-write-edit control by gatekeepers while simultaneously providing real-time access of current information to the broader user base.Access to remote personnel,facilities and authorized contractors is enabled through secure Internet access to the EDDI interface.The Documentum desktop application provides powerful drawing and document management features to designated gatekeepers.This tool is specifically designed to provide document control;check in/out,attribute editing and other key functionality.In summary,VECO has recently developed and implemented a cost-effective,user-friendly EDDI system to maintain,create and easily access natural gas project documents.
