What is lean manufacturing? Simply stated,lean manufacturing is the "elimination of waste" in any business process or "value stream." "Wherever there is a product for a customer,there is a value stream.The challenge lies in seeing it.What do we consider to be waste? Waste can be defined as any activity in a business operation that does not add value to the product or service being delivered.A value-added operation is one that changes the shape or form of the product being delivered.If we look around us in our everyday world,there are numerous products among us.These products did not just appear,but some material or resource was utilized and transformed into the products we see around us.
