KEY2SPACE: PROVIDING NEW MARKET OPPORTUNITIES TO ADDED VALUE COMPANIES IN THE NEW SPACE ECONOMY ERA

In order to be completely developed, the Space Economy should be able to activate an economic cycle with positive-feedback in which the widespread of space-based services creates the basis for further investments in the space sector. In order to obtain this result, it is mandatory to have a concurrent growth of both demand and supply. This requires the synergic involvement not only of the service providers but also of the potential users. Although there is great ferment around the Space Economy, the interactions between the different actors is problematic. In particular, on one hand there are several entities, that could be defined as peer consumers, that could take advantages from the use of space data, but do not have the right know-how, instruments or competencies for the exploitation of the data. On the other hand, specialized companies, Universities and research centers, defined as peer producers, are able to create added-value services and products derived from space data, but find several difficulties in entering a non-organized market. From this point of view, we introduce KEY2SPACE a web platform designed by the E. Amaldi Foundation and developed by the Hypatia Research Consortium. KEY2SPACE is able to revolutionize the whole concept of the Space Economy in Europe by creating value through facilitating the multiple-sided interaction between peer producers and peer consumers instead of facilitating exchanges between buyers and sellers.
