FUNDAMENTALS OF ADSORPTIVE DEHYDRATION PRESENTED AT THE 54TH ANNUAL LAURANCE REID GAS CONDITIONING CONFERENCE

This paper reviews the basics of adsorption with an emphasis on dehydration of natural gas. It is the prequel to Robert E Trent's “Fundamentals of Adsorption"which, together with this document, comprises the complete written record of the LRGCC Adsorption Fundamentals section. In this paper, commonly used terms are defined; different commercially available adsorbents are described; the principles of adsorption are reviewed; and a process flow diagram and typical thermal regeneration cycle are discussed for gas dehydration. This prequel is designed to give the reader sufficient information to coherently discuss adsorption applications with adsorbent vendors.
