Antiseptics and disinfectants based on quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC) have a wide range of veterinary applications and play an important role in the control of infectious diseases in animals (Russell, 1987). In the dairy industry they are commonly used for disinfection of milking equipment and teat disinfection (Bramley, 1984). The purpose of this study was to characterize Staphylococcus aurens isolated from bulk tank milk (BTM) and determine if they were resistant to quaternary ammonium compounds.
