AN EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE IMPACT OF CONTEXTUAL FACTORS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SUPPLY CHAIN

This study investigates the impact of the contextual factors (firm size, supply chain length, channel structure, and a firm's electronic linkage with its suppliers/customers) on supply chain performance (customization flexibility, volume and production flexibility, supply chain integration, responsiveness to customers, supplier performance and partnership quality). The results show that supply chain performance is not significantly influenced by firm size and channel structure of a supply chain. But some significant differences do exist in the performance of supply chain in relation to supply chain length and a firm's electronic linkages with its suppliers/customers.
