Preparation of phospholipid cholesterol ester microemulsions for cellular nutrition and drug delivery

Two different methods for the preparation of nanometer sized lipid microemulsions have been investigated. A solvent evaporation method provides the smallest particles although initial sizes are influenced by lipid composition. The microemulsions are capable of supporting U937 proliferation indicating that they may be suitable for lipid supplementation and drug delivery.
