Constructions in stainless steel: Long-lasting efficiency

We live on a fragile planet, in a world with a rising population and a diminishing resource base. Statistics confirm that our current rate of consumption of natural resources is unsustainable, and prudent use of energy & material resources has become a pressing imperative. The construction sector has an important role to play in the journey towards sustainabiiity. New construction accounts for 3 billion tons of raw materials/year : it requires energy-intensive fabrication and global transportation networks, it uses virgin resources and toxic chemicals. Building operation consumes up to eight times the energy embedded during the construction process; demolition generates waste. Considered together, the material & energy used in these processes rivals that of the entire manufacturing sector of the global economy.
