With the adoption of this alternative practice we can get fast answers regarding the quality of the combustion avoiding visual and subjective evaluations, since the results are reliable, with accuracy and repeatability. Furthermore, this practice revealed an efficient tool to provide orientation for the refractories maintenance, by relating the O_2 content in waste gas with the crude gas leakages from the ovens to the combustion chambers.
