At the early stages of finned projectile munition development there were encountered problems related to fin stabilizer unit mechanical failure due to deformation, which resulted in its abnormal behavior. Hypothetically, these failures were attributed to forces impacting the projectile at muzzle brake exit. The purpose of the work described herein was to estimate the gas-dynamic effect of propellant gases on the stabilizer unit of projectile at its exit through the muzzle brake. The method of investigation is based on numerical simulation this process in a 3D scenario using the package GasDynamicsTool.
