Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) is a worldwide pest of vegetable, ornamental, and field crops, causing both direct and indirect damage through feeding on plant sap. Direct feeding causes leaf chlorosis, a mottled appearance, and areduction in plant vigor. Indirect damage is mainly through transmission of plant viruses, and to a lesser extent through promoting the development of sooty mould.
