摘要

The Red Road Youth Cultural Enrichment Project was created to integrate urban American Indian youth into the positive elements of traditional American Indian cultural practices while supporting an urban lifestyle and functioning within a non-traditional setting. Traditional American Indian specialists are used to engage group members in learning the values upon which Native traditions are based. These values are given as protective factors for the youth to adapt into their daily lives. Peer leaders are trained to engage and educate youth on life choices related to Alcohol/Substances and HIV/AIDS. YCEP utilizes a 12 week group model that focuses on traditional learning activities and revolves around elements of tribal practices that promote wholeness within a person. Youth are surveyed on intake, end of 12 week sessions and 6 months.
