摘要

Behavior of a thin layer of magnetic fluid in traveling magnetic field is examined using the ALE type of GSMAC finite element method. Flow field in the magnetic fluid layer is investigated numerically. Surface velocities are compared with the experimental results reported by Kikura (1990) and the numerical results match the experimental results qualitatively. Effect of depth of the magnetic fluid layer on the transportation of fluid is investigated and it is shown the surface velocity is maximized at the certain depth of fluid layer.
