The research on the flow around L-type cross-section bodies was carried out by an experiment and numerical simulation. The drag and lift of the bodies were measured in the range of Reynolds number Re=1.4×10{sup}4 to 6.9×10{sup}4 in a uniform flow. The effects of the body position and Re on drag and lift coefficients were considered. The measurements of the drag and lift were carried out by a direct method using the strain gauge load cells. Three kinds of the L-type cross section body with the equal sides of one side 35 mm, the circular arc in the hypotenuse and the right-angled isosceles triangle of one side 35 mm were used as test bodies. As the result, the drag and lift coefficients are hardly affected by Re. Those coefficients are dominated by the body position for the flow direction. The drag coefficient shows the maximum value at the position in which projected area to flow direction becomes a maximum. The lift coefficient shows the maximum value at the position in which the projected area becomes a minimum. The numerical simulation of the flow around a body was carried out by using CFD 2000 developed by Adaptive Research Co. Except for the position in which projected area of the body became a minimum, the results of the simulation were agreed well the experimental values.
